Welcome

Rosenberg & Weinberg is a Massachusetts bankruptcy law firm. It seeks to continue the commitment of Jason Rosenberg and Merrill Rosenberg for over seventy years to help people work out their financial problems; both in and out of bankruptcy court. The firm has prided itself on providing creditors and debtors with the highest quality representation in and out of bankruptcy court, equal to firms many times our size, but with a personal touch.

A large part of our practice is helping individuals and  families deal with debt and get a fresh start under Chapter 7 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. Due to the depressed value of houses, we have recently been very successful in removing second mortgages from peoples homes, and on occassion, even reducing the first mortgage on multi-family homes.

We also help companies reorganize out of the Bankruptcy Court, and in Chapter 11. In addition, we frequently represent the interest of landlords, leasing companies, and creditors in regional and national bankruptcies. In a typical day, we may help a family save their home, assist a person to sell part of their structured settlement, advise a shopping center landlord deal with a bankrupt anchor tenant closing several stores, and defend a California company in a bankruptcy preference action.

Representation of debtors is the bedrock of our firm. Frankly, we find our most satisfying work is helping people and businesses regain control of their lives. Also, our focus on representing debtors has allowed us to obtain extraordinary results for creditors, as frequently we know the debtor's options better than the debtor's own counsel.

Some of our most noteworthy cases have involved helping creditors in Chapter 11 bankruptcies. We recently represented the city of Methuen in a large Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding and obtained a highly favorable result that warranted a front page article in the local daily newspaper. In another case, we obtained a six figure sum for a junior lien holder despite the fact that the senior lien holder was not paid in full. Also, as part of our practice we represent creditors in non-business litigation, collection and mortgage foreclosure matters. We find our expertise in bankruptcy is very helpful, particularly in representing creditors interests when a debtor threatens to file bankruptcy and we believe our client will do better in Bankruptcy Court.

The next generation of attorneys at Rosenberg & Weinberg have been carefully selected to continue the Rosenberg family reputation for excellence in bankruptcy. Herbert Weinberg served as a law clerk to a bankruptcy judge and then spent ten years in the bankruptcy department of a sophisticated downtown Boston law firm before joining the firm. Bill Jacob spent almost six years practicing with a bankruptcy attorney who is now one of the leading bankruptcy judges in Massachusetts, and has been practicing bankruptcy law for nineteen years. Bill Jacob has also spent significant time in representing creditors in litigation and collection including foreclosure sales.  Patrick Martin has joined us from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School we he distinguished himself by obtaining the high academic rank of cum laude, and was selected for the honor of serving as a Senior Associate Editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Law Review.

We are a federally designated debt relief agency and help people file for relief under the Bankruptcy Code.  We welcome the opportunity to help you and are prepared to act quickly.
